I've heard Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell will not vote to confirm Judge Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. His reasons "her lack of objectivity and his concern that her personal opinions would shape her rulings."

Oh come now Jack. Get a grip. After you boys rammed through such eminently qualified individuals like Clarence Thomas what in the world are you talking about? Oh, and that personal opinion thingie? I seem to remember a court that defied all logic in ending vote recounts in Florida and thus giving W his stolen election.

The real reason Republirats do not like her is, in my humble catpinion, simply the fact that she does not spout right wing ideology. She will not be on "their side." Hey from what I have seen she seems pretty independent. I think she might end up being only on the law's side. What a radical concept!

Why don't you come out and be honest. Tell the truth. You won't vote for someone who is not a frothy mouth right winger. You have that right. But do not hide your opinion in solemn speech. Remember, it's all right for you to look like a bigot. You are, after all, a Republirat.

I see the Republirats are at it again! They're trying to get back to the issues on which they can make their right wing sicko voters froth at the mouth. It's happening in the midst of work on appropriation bills. "The gays are coming! They're going to force everyone to get an abortion when they get here." Give me a break! It's dirtier than my litter box after it hasn't been cleaned for days.

There may be a few Republirats that actually care about these issues. But I bet there aren't very many. They simply know what levers to pull to motivate the nutsos. It's all as cynical as a decleration of everlasting love from a hooker.

Give it a break folks We have real problems in this country. How about joining with the rest of the nation to solve them for a change instead of continuing to soil your souls with such mindless drivel.

Hey, did you hear the news? It's almost as big as Saint Michael kicking off! Sarah Palin has not only dropped out of running for reelection. She's also resigning as governor of Alaska. The media is full of speculation about all the horrible things she might have done to require that resignation.

I'm going to say something that might surprise readers of the Cat Blog. Lay off! Leave Sarah alone! Now Sarah, don't sue me, but I don't like you very much. Any politician who claims she/he is getting direct orders from God makes me more than a bit nervous. In fact it's enough to make me swear off catnip, at least for awhile. But folks there is no proof at present she has done anything wrong . . . or at least anything new that's wrong. Unless there is proof attacking her makes those of us in the progressive camp look like we're imitating the right wing nut squads. Lay off, let it cool. If she hasn't done anything wrong now, she will sometime soon. Go after her then.

I  should also mention that giving S.P. this type of attention carries with it the possibility of making her a right wing martyr. That type of thing the country does not need!

So let's stop wondering about why Ms. Palin quit. Maybe we will all be lucky and she'll fade into a very well deserved obscurity.
